Sampson and Godward wrap up shooting campaign

SHOOTING: The shooting competition has concluded in Rio with the final event the men's 50 metre 3 position rifle where the two Australians, Dane Sampson and Will Godward did not advance to the final.

Sampson finished with a score of 1169.58 to finish in 20th position with team mate Godward down in 40th place with a score of 1156.41

Sampson was pleased with his effort which gave him a lot of confidence.

"I'm happy with that, it's actually my second best score of the year so it's good to get a good score down," he said.

"I really enjoyed it out there. I was a bit disappointed with how I shot the other day so to come back and finish where I did is good."

The gold medal was won by Nicollo Campriani from Italy.
