Athlete Biography

Mitch Emery will make his Olympic debut in Rio with the Australian Sharks after they placed 5th and 2nd respectively in the 2016 World League Super Final and 2016 World League Intercontinental Tournament.

Born in Sydney, Emery started playing water polo at 11 years-old. In 2008 he was crowned the Drummoyne Water Polo Club Junior Player of the Year.

He placed fourth at his senior international debut at the 2010 FINA World League Preliminary tournament in China. Australia placed eighth at his debut World Cup in Spain in 2013.

He helped the Sharks finish fifth at the 2014 FINA Super League Finals in Dubai and again at the FINA World Cup in Almaty, Kazahhstan.

Emery was named in the National Water Polo League All-Stars team in 2015.
