Athlete Biography

Matt Dellavedova will make his second appearance at an Olympic Games having lined up in the green and gold at the London 2012 Games where Australia finished 7th. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 assists in just over 28 minutes per game.

Dellavedova enjoyed a sensational college career for the Saint Marys Gaels, breaking the side’s all-time scoring and assists records, before going undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft. He soon signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who he would go on to spend three seasons with.

After limited game time to kick off his NBA career, Dellavedova grew into an integral part of the star-studded Cavaliers side which featured the likes of Team USA London 2012 gold medallists LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. He helped the side to the 2015 NBA Finals series where the side went down to Dellavedova’s Aussie teammate Andrew Bogut’s Golden State Warriors.

The country Victorian returned home to help Australia qualify for Rio 2016 by winning the 2015 Oceania Championships. He then averaged a career high 7.5 points in the 2015-16 NBA regular season as the team topped the Eastern Conference standings for the second year running. The side would go on to turn the tables on Bogut’s Warriors as they won the NBA Championship in seven games. Soon after Dellavedova signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.
