Kevin Chavez will represent his adopted country, Australia, at the Rio 2016 Games making his Olympic debut in the 3 metre springboard.
The recently naturalised Chavez, who was born in Mexico, won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships in the 1 metre springboard.
He then moved to Australia in March 2015. The Rio Olympic Games will mark his first international competition for Australia.
At the Australian Open Championships in May he was the most consistent diver across all the rounds, but was beaten in the final by now Rio teammate Grant Nel.
At the 2016 World Cup Selection Trials last December Chavez competed as a guest competitor, due to, at the time, not yet being eligible to compete for Australia, finishing second in the final.
