Athlete Biography

New to the Hockeyroos National Squad in 2015, Kathryn Slattery competed in every major international tournament, and secured her Olympic debut in Rio 2016.

The Western Australian progressed through the state’s junior ranks before competing at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic festival where Slattery scored one of Australia’s two goals in the 2-1 gold medal victory over China. The following year she advanced to the Hockey Australia development squad.

The defender made her senior international debut in a test-series against New Zealand before winning silver at the 2014 Champions Trophy in Argentina.

2015 saw Slattery claim gold at the Oceania Cup, bronze at the World League Semi-Final and place sixth at the World League Final.

An identical twin with sister Meg, Slattery hails from a farming family in the small community of South Stirling, five hours’ drive south of Perth. The family farm covers 10, 000 acres and with a degree in Agribusiness from Curtain University, Slattery plans on returning to the property after her hockey career.
