Athlete Biography

Alyce Burnett will team up with Alyssa Bull in Rio, where the duo will make their Olympic debuts in the K2 500m event. The pair won both selection trials against London Olympians Naomi Flood and Jo Brigden-Jones.

Burnett began lifesaving at age 7 and took up kayaking in 2008 to improve her surf ski paddling. After missing out on a spot in the 2012 London Olympics, Burnett walked away from the sport and went back to surf lifesaving for a year, before making a remarkable comeback in 2013.

Bull and Burnett secured two Olympic quota spots at the Oceania Championships in Adelaide, February 2016 with their gold medal win.

The Under-23 World Championship bronze medallists have been training on the Gold Coast in the lead up to Rio 2016.

The Twin Waters born athlete grew up dreaming of being a prima ballerina. She now hopes to follow her passion for journalism after graduating from a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Public Relations and Journalism from Griffith University. She has started her own company called Mediagenic - http://www.alyceburnett.com.au
